Eligibility

  • Am I eligible to apply?
    Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
    • Currently reside in a North Texas county:
      • Dallas Counties – Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman and Rockwall
      • Fort Worth Counties – Hood, Johnson, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise
    • Be 25 years old or younger before the Fall semester begins
    • Be a graduating high school seniora high school graduatea GED recipient, current undergraduate, or current graduate school/master’s degree student
    • Plan to enroll in an undergraduate, graduate or master’s course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex
    • Plan to enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester for undergraduate or at least 9 credit hours per semester for graduate/master’s leading to a degree
    • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • Is the GPA I submit only from my current university when applying for the HACEMOS Scholarship?
    Yes. You should report the cumulative unweighted GPA shown on your most recent official transcript from your current school (the institution you are presently attending).
  • Is the GPA requirement for the HACEMOS Scholarship evaluated by semester, current academic year, or average of each semester up until current one?
    Academic standing is based on your cumulative GPA, which includes all semesters and courses completed up to the time you apply. As long as your cumulative GPA is 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, as shown on your most recent OFFICIAL transcript at the time of application, you are eligible to be considered.
  • Can I apply if I attend a Community College?
    Yes. If you meet scholarship requirements, we encourage you to submit your application the number of years you continue your studies at a Community College.
  • Can I apply if I am a graduate student?
    Yes. The IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship Program is open to students who will be pursuing undergraduate or graduate/master’s studies at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
  • Can I apply if I am not an AT&T employee or the child/dependent of a current AT&T employee?
    Yes. The IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Program is open to the general public and is not restricted to AT&T employees or their family members.
  • Can I apply if I am not of Mexican descent or Hispanic/Latino?
    Yes. The IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship Program accepts all applications submitted if students reside and study in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
  • Can I apply if I live or transfer to study outside of North Texas? / Can I apply for the scholarship if I am an international student?
    The IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship Program will be awarded to applicants who currently reside AND plan to attend college in the listed Dallas-Fort Worth Counties.
  • Can I apply for the scholarship if I obtained this scholarship in previous years?
    Yes. The IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX scholarship is not renewable, and you need to reapply. We encourage you to reapply every year to be able to support your studies.

Required Documents

  • What supporting documents do I need to apply?
    Gather the following required materials before applying:
    • Copy of OFFICIAL school transcript.
      • Must have a school seal and/or school signature to be considered an official transcript
      • Transcripts marked “unofficial”, “student copy”, or other unofficial indicator will not be considered
    • Two (2) recommendation letters (Academic or Professional)
    • Copy of ID or other record with proof of DFW address to validate eligibility
    • YouTube video created based on the requirements given on the application
      • Video visibility can either be Public or Unlisted; do NOT set the video as Private or we will not be able to review
  • What is an official transcript?
    This document validates your High School or College courses taken, grades earned, and cumulative grade point average (GPA). Make sure it is an OFFICIAL transcript copy. Official transcripts must have either signature or school seal. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted. If the transcript has the words “Unofficial,” “Student Copy,” or other verbiage/markings that clearly indicates it is unofficial, it will not be accepted.
  • Can I submit a copy of my academic records from my school’s student website?
    No. Grade reports and online records do not count as official transcripts. Please follow your school’s process for requesting a copy of your official transcript to submit with your application.
  • Can I submit a picture of my transcript?
    Yes. A copy of the official transcript or picture may be submitted with your application. PDF, JPG/JPEG, and PNG file formats are allowed. We prefer that you provide a document in a PDF format.
  • Do I need recommendation letters?
    Yes, two recommendation letters are required. Letters of recommendation are necessary to better know your academic and personal character from someone else’s perspective. We would appreciate receiving recommendation letters from your teachers, employers (if applicable), religious leaders, or other professionals/community leaders to learn more about you. Please avoid submitting recommendation letters from direct family members. We strongly recommend you request your letters ahead of time to ensure you have it before the application deadline.
  • What do I do if I can only send my official transcript through email? / What do I do if the person writing my recommendation letter wants to send it themselves?
    If you are not able to upload your official transcript or recommendation letters, please select the corresponding option in the form and have documents emailed to submissions@orangered-shark-341812.hostingersite.com. All documents must be received BEFORE the scholarship deadline for your application to be reviewed.
  • Which documents do I need as proof of Dallas-Fort Worth address?
    Applicable documents include State ID, Driver’s License, or any academic records that include your current address.

Application Process

  • When does the IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship Program open?
    The opening date of the program varies by year, but typically the application opens in July and closes in August.
  • Can I start my application, save it, and complete at a different date and time?
    No. During the application process, we recommend gathering all information asked in our eligibility link, we don’t have a save feature and encourage you to complete application in one session.
  • Can I make changes to my application after submitting it?
    No, you cannot edit your application once it has been submitted. Please review your application carefully before submitting to ensure all information is correct.
  • What if I accidentally submit multiple applications?
    If you submit more than one application, we will consider only your most recent submission.
  • When will I know if I get selected as an IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship recipient?
    The selection committee takes time to carefully review each application. We will update the home page of the website once notifications are sent out to applicants. Scholarship recipients will typically be notified in November via email, but exact dates will vary each year.

Scholarship Award

  • What expenses can the IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship award cover? / Is the IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship award limited to tuition and fees, or can it be used for other costs?
    The scholarship may be applied toward any education-related expenses on the student’s account. This includes tuition, fees, room & board (on- or off-campus), transportation, and supplies & equipment. The award should be used first to address any unmet financial need. Any remaining funds can then be used for other college-related expenses or to reduce the loan or work-study components of the student’s financial aid package.
  • Can the scholarship be split between the Fall and Spring semester?
    Scholarship recipients have permission to decide whether the award is applied entirely to one semester or divided across multiple semesters. 
  • If my IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship award is more than my unmet financial need, will I lose the extra amount?
    No. If your award exceeds your unmet need, your college should issue a refund to you for the remaining amount, or apply the balance to your account for the next semester if there is still a credit.
  • If I receive an IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship, will it replace grants or other non-loan aid in my financial aid package?
    No. The IMME Becas / HACEMOS NTX Scholarship should not be used to replace any previously awarded federal, state, institutional, or other grant aid you have received.
